Data published by the Central Bank of Nigeria showed that the official closing rate settled at ₦1,332.49 per dollar during the latest completed trading session on Friday, October 9.
Meanwhile, the parallel market quoted the greenback higher on Monday, October 12, 2026. Currency dealers bought the dollar at ₦1,370 and sold it at ₦1,380.
Market operators noted that parallel rates vary depending on transaction location and dealer margins. The spread between the official and parallel windows continues to influence importers and individuals managing foreign exchange obligations.
The naira’s movement directly affects citizens funding international tuition fees, medical travel, and commercial imports. Analysts advise market participants to confirm live rates with authorized dealers before executing transactions.
